Eight (8) gifts you can afford

The gift of Listening
BUT you must really listen. No interrupting, no daydreaming, no planning your response. Just listening...(Not always easy, is it)?

The gift of Affection
Be generous with appropriate hugs, kisses, pats on the back and handholds. Let these small actions demonstrate the love you have for family and friends. (May be a little challenging for some, but try it anyway).

The gift of Laughter
Clip cartoons. Share articles and funny stories. Tell a funny joke. Your gift will say, "I enjoy laughing with you". (My bother and a couple of our friends love telling jokes, and we enjoy them a lot).

The gift of a Written Note
It can be a simple "Thanks for the help" note. A brief, handwritten note may be remembered for a lifetime, and may even change a life.  (This is something I really enjoy doing, because I love buying pretty cards, and also receiving them).
The gift of a Compliment
A simple and sincere, "You look great in red", "You did a great job" or "That was a wonderful meal" can make someone's day. (This is especially nice to do for young children and the elderly, but why not to anybody in between?..we all need an encouraging word).

The gift of a Favor
Everyday go out of your way to do something kind. (Anything...my husband makes me coffee every morning).

The gift of Solitude
There are times when we want nothing better than to be left alone. (For sure, something I treasure). Be sensitive to those times and give the gift of solitude to others.

The gift of a Cheerful Disposition
The only way to feel good is to make others feel good. (My husband, Galen, always says, "I am happy to be here", when someone asks "How are you doing today?" And when he comes out of the Doctor's office he says to the patients in the waiting room "The Doctor says I am going to LIVE".
(Both of these statements take people off guard and they always laugh and say something positive too). So, try to have a sunny disposition even when things are not going your way, it will make YOU feel a little better.

Hope you can use some of these gifts, especially since they will not cost you anything.'

Have a Great Day!
