It is that time again....we send greeting cards, flowers, candy, jewelry etc..to the people we love...It is Valentine's....but we can also give gifts that money cannot buy:
The gift of listening....Really listen to others-no interrupting (which I know I am guilty of at times), daydreaming, or planning your response.
The gift of affection...Be generous with appropriate hugs, kisses, pats on the back or handholds. (We all need to grow in some areas...this one is not easy for me).
The gift of laughter...Share articles, cartoons and funny stories..your gift will say "I love laughing with you". (I always enjoy a funny story from a friend, as well as sharing one with them)
The gift of a written note.....Even if it's a simple "Thanks for your help" note, it may be remembered for a lifetime. (I love writing and receiving cards/notes).
The gift of a compliment....A simple, sincere, "You look good in that color," can make someone's day. (Don't we all love hearing a nice compliment)?
The gift of a favor...Every day, go out of your way to do something kind for someone else. (I like volunteer work, wether it is for a charity, church, or for a friend).
The gift of solitude.....Be sensitive to other's time and give them the gift of solitude, give them some space..(I don't always like to be around people and be "on", and have to chit chat, especially early in the morning).
The gift of a cheerful disposition...Project positive attitude. (Let's face it, who likes to be around Debbie Downers, and grouchy, negative people).
So there you have it. Try practicing some of these "free gifts" and your day will be happier too.
And remember- the three best places to be are:
The nicest place to be is in someone's thoughts
The safest place to be is in someone's prayers and...
The best place to be is in the hands of God!
Happy Valentine's
